It's Twenty -Ten: Happy New Year!

Yes, it's only five more years before hoverboards and flying cars are invented. Well, that's according to Back to the Future Part 2. Anyway...

It's been a while since our last blog post when we were involved with the proceedings of International AIDS Day in Sala. We have also been more involved in helping to run ACET youth groups and what's most exciting of all - our announcement about running YouthAlpha within and outside the clubs. Please pray for us - we need as much help as possible in being able to enter schools to run this, as then it would be far, far easier for students to participate. The culture of Sala is far more laid back when it comes to travelling, which is unusual for Slovakia.   This is another upside, as we are more optimistic that people are far more willing to travel to come to an Alpha course.

December has been moderately busy for us - especially when trying to settle in together even though we will be moving again in less than a month. This is also a stressful time for us as well, as our roles for the New Year are not clearly defined - it's like looking through a lens and not quite being able to see what is going on, but hoping and praying that it will be good anyway. This type of life is certainly not boring, by any means.

I was also rather involved with Samaritan's Purse - a charity that sends shoeboxes of gifts to underprivileged children and/or orphans. So, my friend Matt and I went on a slight adventure and a moderate detour around the villages of Western Slovakia to pick up the shoeboxes - enough to fill the entire loading space of an Opel Zafira.  Later on in the week, I travelled to Zlate Moravce to help our friends Michal and Lubi deliver some of the shoeboxes to a local orphanage.  Good thing we just bought a new car:

We ran programmes alongside the youth and leaders at the orphanage.  In the end, we left in heavy snow, but we also left a lot of happy kids behind.

It's good to play Santa every once in a while.

I'll end on a personal note - it was my birthday at the start of January!  31 years... where has the time gone?  More importantly, what will happen next?

Time will tell.  We'll keep you updated... :-)
