Ahh, last week we concluded the last session of YouthAlpha. Part of me is glad to see it wrapped up and thoroughly celebrated - there was a lot to celebrate!
1) Most of the kids stayed on for Alpha instead of going home after the Youth Club
2) 12 of those kids made commitments to follow Christ
3) Many of them are hungry for God and many have leadership potential
But then, it was sad too. This was the first time we had shared spiritual things with them, and now, unless they come to church, that's it for them. And church isn't geared solely to them, SO, in Sept we are going to be starting a co-ed discipleship small group for those who made commitments, and for those hungry for spiritual things. I will be heading this up, but Lukas Fulop, a team member, will be helping me. I will really value his help, as most of these kids are guys, and they adore Lukas!
In other news, please pray for Slovakia - the past couple months have been really bad for farmers and land owners, due to heavy rains, there has been a lot of flooding. Many people have had their basements flooded, their fields completely swamped and property destroyed. Then, in complete contrast, just days after the rain stopped, the temperature is 30 C!
Also, pray for me (Christina) as I am going to Canada on Monday for a friend's wedding and for itineration. Pray also for James, as he will be alone in Slovakia for the next 5 weeks.
Thanks for thinking of us!
