Since we last spoke...

We haven't blogged for a while, but lots of changes have been happening in between.

Christina is on the recovery process from her long illness and we're just seeing changes in how much more energy she has to give.  She is feeling less lethargic in the evenings and sleeps at near to normal hours.  This is a good thing, as her husband works rather unsocial hours at the moment.  The alarm for morning shift is set at 3:45 am...

In the meantime, lots of things have been happening in the world: Poland had a national tragedy; Greece is near enough to being bankrupt; the Iceland ash cloud has disrupted travel to a significant degree.  The latter meant that we had an unexpected visit from Tim Roberts, the church leader at Watford Community Church, which isn't too far from Soul Survivor Watford, one of the first places that James went to in the beginnings of his spiritual journey.  Tim was staying over at Michal and Lubi Kluciar's home during this time, as he had planned to visit them, but it seemed that Iceland and God had other ideas.  We were blessed by his presence and his talk at our Nitra church.

Also, we had an American prayer group come over under the direction of NLI (Next Level International).  Christina hosted them throughout their journeys and we're glad to say that their prayers for our burgeoning Sala church have taken some form of fruition in that specific members of the group are starting to ask for our advice about certain life subjects, such as bullying or even how to juggle.  There will be more on them from an upcoming post from Christina.

The HN/Alpha groups are going very well.  One of the members of our team - Lukas - had joined in with a game of football with some of the local youth after home group.  This in itself has made numbers rocket up, as their friends have told their friends and so on.  Over the last month, we've held a talent show contest within the main club (HN/ACET) and the week after that we just had club entirely dedicated to Alpha.  This one was supported by people from the Nove Zamky church and headed by our friend Milan Presburger.  We had technical issues throughout the night, we had people in the band not showing up because their bosses would not let them go at their usual time... But the result was amazing - those that didn't believe in God were dancing anyway to the music, with a fair number dedicating themselves to Christ that night.  We wait to see what happens next, what God puts on them and to see their hunger for Christ grow.  We were also very impressed with one of the guys from the Nove Zamky team who had not played drums before in public and also with the team's flexibility in their performance.

We have also been actively looking for church buildings and are starting to get a budget together for starting up.  The amount of equipment and resources that we need to properly start a place together for our team and for Sala will be limited at first, but we are hoping and praying for a positive response from the local town and our supporters as well.  Christina is making plans to visit Canada for five weeks in June - July, where she will be spreading the word of how much has been done here since we've moved here.

Thanks for reading!
